------>THIS ....it's this type of stuff that is a problem.
It's either a big problem, or, depending upon your personal preference, a smaller problem. For me? It's just a problem. Here's the deal and then you can read the rest for yourselves. Breast Cancer. It's a disease. It's not glamorous and there isn't a breast cancer patient on the planet whose "boobs" are a scar free. Let's raise money in the name of a disease that steals this part of the female anatomy and let's have some fun with it. I find this distasteful. It wouldn't bother me if it were in a magazine for some sort of advertisement or to headline an article. It bothers me when THIS is plastered in my face in the name of breast cancer. How about some REAL photos? How about The Scar Project?
Huge shout out to the website pornhub.com for supporting the cause. For every 30 "unique" VIEWS of their "big tits" or "small tits" videos they will donate one penny. ONE penny for every 30 people. Way to really step up. This pretty much sums up the whole "sexualization of a disease for profit" rather nicely. I suppose I should thank the folks at this particular website for providing me with an excellent example of "Exhibit A." The problem? Well... if I have to explain it, never mind... it's not even worth wasting my time. If you don't get it, you never will.....
Instead, I'll speak on behalf of dozens and dozens of MY friends. This is wrong.
On so many levels, it's JUST WRONG.

Your "boob" porn searches will help raise money for breast cancer

Too lazy to do a walk-a-thon for breast cancer? Want to put your horniness to good use?
In honor of October being National Breast Cancer Awareness month, adult entertainment websitePornhub.com announced Tuesday they are donating 1 cent for every 30 unique views of their "small tits" and "big tits" videos to breast cancer research and awareness.
Yes, really. So that means the more breasts are viewed on the site, the more money goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Just can't wait to help out and fight breast cancer? Just go to Pornhub.com, click on either the "videos" or "categories" tab and then select your size preference. Let the good deeds begin.
The promotion last the entire month of October.
According to Pornhub, the site gets on average 70 to 90 millions viewers per month on the "small tit" and "big tit" categories, so yeah, you do the math. We're too busy looking at porn.

ReplyDeleteOMG!!! I'm speechless. I consider myself a pretty open-minded individual, but this?? Wrong doesn't even begin to describe it. It's disgusting!!! How/where do you find this stuff???
Thanks for keeping us so well-informed. Really. I mean it!

There isn't a redeeming feature in this mess....... If anyone dares to even suggest a "what's the big deal?" ... I would suggest they state that point of view from a far enough distance that I can't throw something....

AnneMarie I couldn't believe when I did my newspaper yesterday (http://www.scoop.it/t/breast-cancer-news) and I found the article that said Komen was taking money from a porn site. Luckily I also saw and posted your article from the Ladies Home Journal at: http://www.lhj.com/blogs/ladieslounge/2012/10/04/can-we-prevent-breast-cancer/. Yours was very uplifting! Thanks!

DeleteThanks for the shout out about the lhj article. That was quite an honor for me! As for THIS? I will say that Komen jumped all over this and told them they did not want their money. Score one for Komen. I can't believe I'm going to say this but I'm a bit impressed...
Hugs...
AnneMarie when I read this I just laughed..Why get yourself all in a dither. I mean come on where is your open mind? Of course I am being sarcastic except for the laughing part. After all the Komen foundation was flogging a perfume that had known carcinogens so does using a porn site REALLY surprise you?
ReplyDeleteWhat's left to do God knows we do enough crying. Shake it off carry on with what we do and hope !@!
Lots of love Alli XXX
First, I laugh. Next, outrage. Finally, more laughing. In between.... bitch blogging to make sure anyone who happens to be reading this can go through those very same emotions....
DeleteLove to you my Parisian bride....

Turns my stomach. Chalk another star up for Susan G. Komen - money at any cost. Thank you, Anne Marie, as always for keeping us informed.

dear annemarie,
ReplyDeletebeyond hideous. but these are the kinds of things that can and should shake us up and make us realize that there is no comparison between a behemoth machine fueled by money, any money, from anywhere, any place, any source high or low to the efforts that are moving forward in the right direction -SLRF, AOW, HOW and many others. you and your bloging colleagues are doing a tremendous job to turn the tables on the pink washed "awareness" crap, to let the public know where their donated dollars (pennies!) are going (or not). so yes, let's all be outraged, but let's also focus on how much information has gotten to people who never had a clue, but now they do. and in our own way, and in our own time, we WILL prevail and slowly but surely, with the truth, the message we all want to get across will become a groundswell. yeah - i know - the slowly part sucks. especially for those of us who are stIV metastatic. still...i do believe that powers in numbers of PEOPLE, NOT dollars, will be the essential first step that will make the difference.
i hope these past few days have brought you some relief and some resolution, and that you are taking time to do some nice things for yourself. i send you my love, and wishes for renewal, new resolve, and for you to know how much you are admired and appreciated, my friend.
XOXOXOXO,

DeleteI am starting to feel the slightest shift and THAT is encouraging. There is a difference between this October and last October. We did lots of talking last year... I see lots of acting this year and that makes me smile.
People will make the difference. YOU make a difference in my life.. every single day...

I am so sickened by this. To make money off women and men suffer so tremendously through fear, treatments, worry - I find this too disgusting to even consider. I have posted it on my FB for as many people to see as possible. I have never been so disgusted.
ReplyDeleteNataline
I am GLAD to see you put this on FB. The more places this can be seen.. the better it will be....
